Recording patient consent (data, photos, recordings, teleconsultation, broadcasts)

Updated 30 Oct 2026

Medivana records patient consent per type, together with the time and status. Patients can withdraw their consent at any time.

Type When it is recorded Effect if refused or withdrawn
Personal data processing First registration Follow the clinic's policy; the medical record must still be kept
Photos Before clinical photos, before-and-after photos, intraoral photos Photos are not taken or not used for new purposes
Recordings Before using AI Scribe The doctor takes notes manually
Teleconsultation Before a teleconsultation session The session cannot start
Broadcast When the patient agrees to receive promotional or informational WhatsApp messages The patient is excluded from broadcasts

Steps

  1. Open the patient record → Consent.
  2. Choose the type, explain the content of the consent to the patient (form templates are available from the Medivana team), and record it as "given".
  3. To withdraw: select the consent → "withdrawn". The time of withdrawal is recorded.

Recording consent requires the "Record patient consent" permission. The form templates are drafts that the clinic needs to adapt with its legal adviser.
