Updated 30 Oct 2026

A deposit is an advance payment from the patient that is used for later invoices. A prepaid package is a number of service sessions paid in advance (for example 5 treatment sessions).

Deposits

  1. Cashier → Deposit → choose the patient → enter the amount and payment method.
  2. When paying the next invoice, choose the Deposit method to deduct from the balance.
  3. Returning a deposit is recorded as a deposit refund.

Journal entries: receiving a deposit Dr Cash/Bank · Cr Patient deposits (liability); using a deposit Dr Patient deposits · Cr Patient receivables.

Prepaid packages

  1. Sell the package to the patient (the package tariff comes from the Cashier master data).
  2. Each time a session is used, the service is recorded with the Package method; the remaining sessions decrease and are shown in the patient record.

Journal entries: when sold Dr Cash/Bank · Cr Unearned revenue (packages); per session used Dr Unearned revenue · Cr Package and treatment revenue. Revenue is recognized per session, so the profit and loss report reflects the services actually provided.
