Medivana prints receipts and medication labels through the browser's print dialog to a 58 mm or 80 mm thermal printer.
Initial setup (once per computer)
- Install the printer driver from the manufacturer; print a test page from the operating system.
- In the driver settings, create or choose the paper size that matches the roll: 58 mm or 80 mm, with automatic/continuous length.
- In Medivana, choose the print format that matches the paper width (58/80 mm) in the cashier or pharmacy print settings.
- When the browser's print dialog appears: choose the thermal printer, Margins: None, Scale: 100% (not "fit to page"), turn off Headers and footers, and turn on Background graphics if the logo does not print.
- Save as the default (Chrome and Edge remember the last choice per printer).
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Text cut off on the right | An 80 mm format printed on 58 mm paper, or the scale is not 100% | Match the format and paper size; scale 100% |
| Printout is very small | Scale set to "fit to page" or A4 paper size | Choose a 58/80 mm paper size, scale 100% |
| Date/URL at the top or bottom | Browser headers and footers are on | Turn off "Headers and footers" |
| Long blank paper comes out | Fixed paper length (for example 297 mm) | Change to automatic/continuous length in the driver |
| Nothing prints at all | Printer offline, stuck queue, cable/Bluetooth | Check the status in the operating system, clear the queue, reconnect |
| Faded print | Thermal paper inserted the wrong way or a dirty print head | Turn the roll over (shiny side toward the print head), clean the print head |
| Logo does not appear | Background graphics are off | Turn on "Background graphics" |
| The print dialog appears every time | Standard browser behavior | For dedicated cashier PCs, IT can turn on the browser's kiosk printing mode |
From a tablet or phone
Use a thermal printer supported by the operating system (AirPrint/Mopria) or print from the cashier PC. PDF receipts can also be sent to the patient's WhatsApp.
