Stock transfers between warehouses or branches, and stock takes

Updated 30 Oct 2026

Stock transfers

  1. Inventory → Stock transfer (permission "Transfer stock between warehouses/branches").
  2. Choose the source and destination warehouses, the items, batches, and quantities.
  3. The destination warehouse confirms receipt.

A transfer between warehouses within one branch only moves stock. A transfer between branches (Enterprise) also creates inter-branch journal entries (inter-branch receivables/payables), which are eliminated during consolidation.

Stock take

  1. Inventory → Stock take (permission "Stock take") → choose the warehouse. Ideally, freeze warehouse transactions during the count.
  2. Print or download the count sheet; count the physical stock per batch.
  3. Enter the counted quantities. Medivana shows the discrepancy per item.
  4. Approve the adjustment with a reason.

Journal entries: surplus Dr Inventory · Cr Inventory surplus; shortage Dr Inventory losses · Cr Inventory.

Do a stock take at least once a month, before period closing.
