Record a return when a patient brings back medication that was already dispensed (for example the wrong drug, or the therapy was stopped), in line with the clinic's policy.
Steps
- Open the patient's dispensing record in Pharmacy → choose Return (permission "Return medication").
- Choose the drug, batch, quantity, and reason.
- Decide whether the medication can go back into stock (packaging intact, not expired). Medication that cannot be restocked is recorded for destruction.
- Save. The cashier follows up with a refund or an invoice adjustment.
What happens automatically
- Stock returns to the original batch (if it can be restocked).
- COGS reversal entry: Dr Inventory · Cr COGS.
- The invoice adjustment or refund is recorded by the cashier and creates a revenue reversal entry.
